About Irène Poetschke
Irène Poetschke powerfully gives us images from her unconscious and her extravagant imagination
Course
Born in 2001, Irène spent her early childhood in Zimbabwe before leaving for Mauritius for 4 years. Then, after a brief stay in France, will come 3 years in Romania and 3 years in Mauritania. In 2019, she returned to France to continue her studies in a context which very quickly became that of the Covid years, breaking with her journey as a traveler.
Since she was little, Irène has always loved creating, whether through drawing, mosaics or pottery. A jack of all trades and possessing a lot of imagination, she had a fairly precise vision of aesthetics, colors and shapes very early on. As she grew up, during high school, she stopped creating and it was during confinement that she started again, moving more specifically towards painting.
Over the last 3 years, she has tested many artistic techniques to find what she likes and build her own style. It was in September 2022 that she decided to start full-time as a painter.
Inspiration
His works are transcriptions of images emerging from his unconscious.
Observing a lot of what surrounds her and drawing inspiration from her life, she needs to create something visual to better understand herself. Playing with the material is a way of liberating herself: these fairly precise images that come to her mind, particularly at night, representing what she feels, are then “thrown” onto the canvas.
It is also a way to connect and communicate with others. In his work, there are no injunctions. Irène wants everyone to be free when faced with her paintings and to make their own interpretation and introspection of her works according to their feelings and their history.
The expatriations that spanned her life meant that Irene was educated in 5 different cultures, a changing, complex and varied environment, particularly enriching. This lifestyle allowed her to rub shoulders with heterogeneous aesthetics which contributed to creating the artistic universe that she presents to us today.
